The Silver Bullet
In folklore, a bullet cast from silver is often the only weapon that is effective against a werewolf, witch, or other monsters. The term is also a metaphor for a simple, seemingly magical, solution to a difficult problem.
We all have goals. Goals should be clear and challenging. If the goal doesn’t stretch you it is not set high enough. Haven’t we all looked for the silver bullet at one time or another to solving a difficult problem or to reach a goal? The lucky numbers on a power ball ticket are the ultimate silver bullet for financial independence. Unfortunately, luck will not help us reach our goals, but numbers will.
So how can we get to the front of our age group?
Train a lot. Do the little thing well. Be thorough with everything you do in swim, bike, run, weight training, diet (while training and after) and recovery. Perfect practice sets us up for a great race performance.
Follow your plan. Be consistent over a long period of time (years in my case).
Keep that goal in front of you at all times. I did. Eventually, I became an overnight success 10 years in the making.
